What You Should Know Before Invisalign® Treatment

We believe that patients should know all about a treatment option before they pursue it, which is why we have compiled this helpful list of facts and statistics regarding Invisalign®. Invisalign® is an effective, “invisible,” and comfortable option to consider if you are an older teen or adult who wants a more attractive and convenient teeth straightening choice. Here are some facts about the treatment that you should know:

  • Invisalign® is an alternative way to straighten your crowded, crooked, and gapped teeth.
  • Invisalign® can also correct over- and under-bites.
  • Invisalign® uses clear, plastic aligners that appear to be invisible when worn over your teeth.
  • If you are concerned about the plastic in the aligners, don’t be. Our aligners are created with BPA-free, medical-grade polyurethane resins, so they are safe for daily wear.
  • You can remove your Invisalign® aligners, making them a convenient option for eating and teeth brushing and flossing.
  • You can also remove your Invisalign® aligners for pre-approved special events. Just speak with our office before you go a long period of time without wearing your aligners.
  • Your aligners should be worn 20-22 hours a day for the best results.
  • Invisalign® is a safe product to keep in your mouth as you sleep, as it is fitted securely over your teeth and will not fall out.
  • Over 95 percent of Invisalign® patients are satisfied with the results they receive. If patients wear their aligners as directed, their results will be exactly what they hoped for.
  • For most patients, treatment time for Invisalign® straightening is about one year.
  • Two Stanford University graduates developed Invisalign® back in 1997.
  • The average cost of receiving Invisalign® treatment is about $5,000. Invisalign® costs do not vary as much as braces treatment costs do, and in most cases, your dental insurance can help cover up to $1,500 in costs.
  • Invisalign® treatment will result in healthier teeth and gums since you will be able to thoroughly clean your teeth during treatment by taking out your aligner, and your teeth will be perfectly straight after treatment. Straighter teeth provide an easier route for good oral hygiene.

A Kelton Research study for Invisalign® determined that:

  • Approximately 30 percent of Americans notice someone’s teeth before any other feature when they meet them.
  • Twenty-five percent of Americans remember someone’s teeth the most after they meet that person.
  • Based on photos, people with straight teeth are over 50 percent more likely to get a first date than those with crooked teeth.
  • Almost 40 percent of Americans would probably not go on a second date with a person who has crooked teeth.
  • Nearly 50 percent of people with straight teeth are more likely to be viewed as healthy individuals solely based on their teeth than those who have crooked teeth.

These are only a few of the glaring statistics that make it apparent how important straight teeth are to society today. If you have concerns about your smile or the health of your teeth due to misalignments, visit our office for an Invisalign® treatment that will successfully and quickly straighten your teeth for good.
